Serving Those Who Serve Others
Pastors carry tremendous responsibility. They lead churches, develop people, navigate change, and care for others—often with few places to receive practical development and personal encouragement. Heart2Serve exists to serve the people who serve everyone else.
Founded by Johnny and Cathie Carr, Heart2Serve comes alongside pastors through practical leadership training, one-on-one coaching, and intentional fellowship. Our approach brings leadership principles into the everyday realities of ministry.
Our yearlong leadership groups combine two in-person training days with monthly individual Zoom conversations during the other ten months. One-on-one Zoom calls create space for honest discussion, relationships, and personal growth. HEART develops leadership character; SERVE develops the skills to lead others well.
Generous church partners and financial donors make this ministry available at no financial cost to participating pastors, apart from some travel expenses. Stronger leaders help strengthen churches, families, and communities.
Meet Johnny Carr
Johnny Carr brings together fourteen years of full-time church ministry, ten years of nonprofit ministry, and more than a decade of Chick-fil-A experience. Those settings shaped a practical approach to developing people and a deep understanding of the responsibilities pastors carry.
Johnny is also a Maxwell Leadership Certified Speaker, Coach, and Trainer, bringing an additional foundation of leadership development to his work with pastors and ministry leaders.
From 2007 to 2013, Johnny served as the first national director of church partnerships at Bethany Christian Services. His book, Orphan Justice: How to Care for Orphans Beyond Adopting, was published by B&H Publishing in 2013. His orphan-care advocacy included speaking at national conferences, partnering with churches of all sizes, and both local and national media appearances.
At Chick-fil-A at Miracle Mile, Johnny serves as Director of Care. He developed the S.E.L.F. Care model—Spiritual, Emotional, Leadership, and Financial—and the PRIME and DEPTH curriculum for employee development. PRIME and DEPTH combined with HEART and SERVE leadership training form his Leadership Path.
Johnny and his wife, Cathie, founded Heart2Serve to invest personally in pastors. The heart of the ministry is simple: practical leadership development, honest encouragement, and relationships that help pastors lead well and finish well.
