Johnny Carr uses the leadership lessons he learned from fourteen years of church ministry, ten years of non-profit ministry, and (soon-to-be) ten years of Chick-fil-A experience to teach pastors. One year cohorts, of six pastors, are formed in different areas across the country. Johnny teaches two onsite, day long, sessions for the group, one in the first month and one in the seventh month. During the other 10 months of the cohort he meets one-on-one with each pastor monthly via Zoom.
This is a free ministry to the pastors (except for some travel expenses). This ministry is possible because of generous partnerships with larger churches and financial donors.
Johnny served as the first national director of church partnerships at Bethany Christian Services, the nation’s largest adoption and orphan care agency from 2007 through 2013. Johnny went from full-time pastor, a position he held for 14 years, to working full time to advocate for the orphan. His book, Orphan Justice: How to Care for Orphans Beyond Adopting was published by B&H Publishing in 2013.
Johnny served as an orphan care leader and advocate within denominations, national religious associations and conferences. He has spoken at Saddleback Church conferences, Catalyst Conference, The Idea Camp, Q, Jubilee Conference, Together for Adoption, The Orphan Summit and many other national, regional, and local conferences. He has also been featured in the Washington Post, FamilyLife Today Radio with Dennis Rainey, Cornerstone TV, and on several other national radio programs and blogs.
Today, Johnny is the Director of Care for Chick-fil-A at Miracle Mile. He developed the S.E.L.F. Care model (Spiritual, Emotional, Leadership, Financial). He teaches Team Members in each of these areas and meets regularly with Team Members for support. He has also written curriculum called PRIME and DEPTH that teaches people how to be "good employees" and "great employees". This material is a preamble to Mark Miller's HEART and SERVE which teaches how to be a "good leader" and a "great leader". Together, Johnny calls this the Leadership Path.
He, and his wife Cathie, are the founders of Heart2Serve Ministry.
